Let’s face it, there are too many changes in marketing for any one person to stay on top of things. Even if you work as part of a team, there is no way you can be doing your day-to-day work and staying on top of all the changes big and small. If you’re lucky enough to work in an environment where ongoing learning is a focus, then you’re in a better position. But regardless, where do you turn to stay inspired and up-to-date?
For the way I like to learn, I find conferences are the best way to minimise distractions, immerse myself in learning, meet inspiring people, see new ways of tackling old problems and find out what’s just over the horizon. If you’re heading to an international conference you’ll also get a feel for how people in other markets are solving their problems.
I’ve kept this list short. It includes conferences I can personally vouch for as well as conferences people I trust have raved about.
Let us know if there are other conferences you’ve attended and loved!
Traffic and Conversion (March 31 - April 2, 2020, San Diego)
This annual conference sees 10,000+ attendees walk away from 100+ sessions over three days with more actionable marketing smarts than they could ever possibly execute on. I’ve attended this conference for the past couple of years and have been hugely impressed.
Inbound (August 18 - 21, 2020, Boston)
Inbound is hosted by HubSpot and features amazing speakers across marketing and sales. 24,000 people attended this conference last year and for a very good reason. It’s an excellent event with topics of interest and value for everyone. We send someone to this conference every year and we’re never disappointed. It’s a great conference as well as a great experience.
Mumbrella 360 (June 2 - 4, 2020, Sydney)
Mumbrella 360 is Australia’s biggest media and marketing event. There are lots of quality speakers, sessions and masterclasses on a range of topics. It helps that this conference is a bit easier to travel to for most of us. Well worth attending.
Leadscon (March 30 – April 1, 2020, Las Vegas)
SMX Search Marketing Expo (5 locations through 2020)
Search Marketing Expo has been running events since 2007. With events throughout the year, there are lots of quality options for all. We’ve attended SMX West and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of industry leaders and fantastic speakers across the board.
CXL Live 2020 (April 5-7 2020, Austin)
CXL is a great conference for anyone interested in CRO and experimentation. All attendees spend 3 days together at the same location and all the presenters are practitioners. Very high-quality event with a huge number of actionable insights.
I know not everyone can justify the time or the cost of an international or even a local conference. Luckily there are plenty of other ways to stay up to date. For a list of our favourites head on over to a list of our favourite training and learning resources for marketers.
